The 3 Beauty Rules Latina Actress Blanca Soto Lives By
BY KIKA ROCHA ON THURSDAY, 6/26/2014 AT 6:02PMGlam Belleza Latina contributing editor Kika Rocha chatted with telenovela actress and Garnier spokeswoman Blanca Soto. Her advice to you? Embrace life to the fullest!
While pageant titles (like Miss Mexico World) and wildly popular telenovelas (El Talismán and Porque el Amor Manda among them) placed Blanca Soto on the map, it’s her confidence that keeps us all watching and cheering her on. Behind the smile is a young widow whose husband died of melanoma in 2004, an experience that launched her as an unofficial (but willing) ambassador of skin cancer awareness. Today the Mexican beauty has been tapped to represent Garnier (in both Spanish and English ads) and is enjoying a successful tour with the traveling comedic play Obscuro Total. I recently caught up with my inspiring friend. Listen in.Blanca, your happiness is contagious. What is your secret?
Do what you love! If you spend your time doing the things that make you happy, you will have a balanced and fulfilled life.
You’re now on tour with Obscuro Total. How do you enjoy performing live?
Every night that I’m onstage, I feel so inspired. With a play there are no interruptions or repeated scenes like in telenovelas, so for me, it’s perfect.Tell us about your beauty routine.
I stick to three rules: Eat healthy, drink lots of water, and get enough sleep. I don’t believe in strict diets because your body needs a variety of nutrients to stay healthy. Also, you won’t find me in a gym! I’m always outside walking my dog, riding my bicycle, or paddleboarding at the beach, which is my new passion. I love to breathe fresh air and to feel sunlight warming up my skin. However, I’m very careful with the sun.You are devoted to making people aware of the importance of daily sun protection.
Definitely. After losing my husband Bill to melanoma, I decided to honor his memory by helping people realize that skin is one of your most important organs. You must be serious about using SPF protection every single day. That’s wonderful. You are such a beauty chameleon. Do you feel hotter as a blond or a brunette?
I love to change! I was a blond for a long time while taping my last soap opera, and now you will see me with darker and richer tones. I love both. Are you a fan of any natural ingredients?
Olive oil is my best friend. My family has Spanish roots, and so I learned to use it with my grandmother. I use it on my heels and elbows, and even to remove eye makeup because it truly hydrates that delicate area.Any makeup favorites to play up your eyes?
I like purple eyeshadows because they contrast nicely with my green eyes. And my favorite mascara for dramatic scenes in a telenovela is L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Waterproof Mascara in black. You’re also a serious nail polish collector!
I love to change my nails one day to the next. There’s one pink-mauve Essie shade that I’m really into now called Fondola Gondola.
